What can I expect on my first visit?
On your first visit, Dr. Kumar and his qualified team will conduct an individualized assessment to determine your unique needs. Validated screening tools are used to identify patients who may have an opioid use problem. When treatment is indicated, consideration is given to the appropriate treatment approach based on patient’s preferences, addiction history, presence of medical or psychiatric comorbidities, and readiness to change. Dr. Kumar will take the time to work with you and go over your medical history and how to safely administer Suboxone to take on your addiction problem. He will discuss proper dosages, side effects, treatment goals and the length of the medication period with you.
How long does the appointment last?
An integral component of the Suboxone Program, group therapy sessions are held prior to patient’s appointments with the prescribing psychiatrist. The session lasts about one hour and provides patients an opportunity to share successes and struggles with others who are on similar journeys to recovery.
