Suboxone® (Buprenorphine)

Like methadone, Suboxone® (buprenorphine) works to reduce the strong craving and reduce the discomfort of withdrawal symptoms. Unlike methadone, however, Suboxone is prescribed in a doctor’s office rather than in a clinic. Suboxone occupies the same way that drugs of addiction occupy – but there is no high associated with Suboxone. Comprehensive Suboxone Maintenance Program includes medical intervention.

Suboxone is a FDA-approved medication for treatment of opioid addiction. The active ingredient in Suboxone, buprenorphine, reduces the cravings for other opioids such as heroin or oxycodone. It is primarily used in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) to prevent use of illegal narcotics. The active ingredient in Suboxone, buprenorphine, enables it to travel through the bloodstream to the brain, where it can fight off the urge for other opioids such as heroin or oxycodone. Suboxone also contains naloxone, which is included within the medication to help prevent overuse of the drug.
